Grovekeeper

Grovekeeper is a small atmospheric adventure , where you play as a lone wanderer, brought into the grove by its weakened guardian. He explains that the forest used to be protected by his power, but goblins have defiled the land and drained his strength.

Head into the woods, fight your way through enemies, recover the three lost essences, and return them to the guardian.

The game has a cozy but dusky tone, supported by ambient music and small details that make the world feel calm. Combat is straightforward. You have an axe for close range attacks and you need to dodge projectiles from shaman enemies while dealing with melee goblins. Scattered around the forest are small powerups that boost your stats, along with healing flowers to help you push deeper into the woods.

I made the first version of Grovekeeper in about two weeks as my first assignment for the Futuregames game design program, then spent another week polishing and preparing it for release here on itch.
